One in three.
That’s how many families struggle being able to afford diapers for their babies. These families try so hard to make diapers last and may even reuse soiled diapers to prolong their supply. The babies suffer from abuse and a series of health risks when this happens. Families right here in Kansas City are suffering.
Diapers are a need for families. Most daycares require disposable diapers, and laundromats won’t allow cloth diapers to be laundered for sanitary reasons. Families that don’t’ have clean diapers can’t take their babies to day care therefore they are unable to work. Welfare, food stamps, and other public assistance does nothing to supplement diapers or provide them for families.
Help us help these families in Kansas City. Kansas City Doulas is hosting No Child Wet Behind (non-profit organization) and will be holding a diaper drive and 5k run to supply these families in need in our own communities. Happy Bottoms is the beneficiary of this huge event.
There are many ways you can help. The 5K run will be held May 13, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Park. We will also be holding a diaper drive leading up to the big event. Our goal is to collect 15,000 diapers and give Happy Bottoms at least $2000 to be able to give clean diapers to so many babies. Let’s close the diaper disparity in Kansas City.
